Abstract

In this research, the behavior of poverty in Mexico during 2018-2020 was analyzed. This period was taken as a reference to study poverty indicators before and during COVID-19. The main objective was to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on poverty rates. This analysis was carried out by collecting data from the ENIGH survey by INEGI during 2018 and 2020 and the results published by CONEVAL, the ENOE and ETOE database was also used. To verify the hypotheses, a quantitative methodology was used through a descriptive analysis based on the results published in the report by CONEVAL and some INEGI databases through a descriptive statistical analysis, where it was shown that during 2020 the indices of Poverty increased mainly due to the decrease in household income and the increase in unemployment.
